Provisions of the immigration authorities for entry into Switzerland

For all nationalities:

Duration of accumulated stays in Switzerland does NOT exceed 8 days per calendar year: No working permit necessary! Please take care of your entry visa if required.

EU/EFTA citizens:

Duration of accumulated stays in Switzerland is exceeding 8 days per calendar year:
Users sent to PSI by a foreign employer are allowed to work in Switzerland only with the consent by the immigration authorities. For nationals of the countries listed below an online report to the immigration authorities is sufficient. That online report is provided by PSI. Please apply early enough (at least 10 days in advance of your stay) for your badge and dosimeter through 'DUO'. The User Office will then take care of your online report and return the electronic permission to you per email.
The online report is also applicable for citizens of other countries than those listed below, if they have a valid residence permit for more than one year in an EU member country.

for their working permit in Switzerland.

Non-EU/EFTA citizens (holds also for Bulgarian and Romanian citizens):

For nationals others than listed above and those without residence permit in an EU member country the online registration is not applicable and several documents have to be provided. In that case the users are asked to apply at least 8 weeks in advance of their stay for badge/dosimeter through 'DUO', such that PSI is aware of your arrival well in advance. We will then contact you to ask for the necessary documents.

Health insurance

You must take out your own illness and accident insurance (e.g. through travel insurance when not insured through your home Institute or employer). You are not entitled to insurance or social security benefits from PSI.
